Now that we have survived ‘Snowmageddon’ here in Indianapolis, what is there to do the rest of this month? We have outlined some of the more exciting entertainment options around the Circle City this month. Please have a look…
Sports, Sports, and more Sports!
Sports are in full gear around Indianapolis this month as we have 3 local teams playing in some VERY important games this month. Firstly, the Indianapolis Colts travel to New England this Saturday, January 11th to face off against the New England Patriots. Although this game is not IN Indianapolis, it will still offer much to do this Saturday night as most bars and restaurants around the city will be packed. Pending a Colts win, and San Diego beating Denver, Indy could host another playoff game next weekend! The Indiana Pacers currently hold the best record in all of the NBA and look to continue their stronghold of the league this month. The Pacers will host games on January 10th, 14th, 16th, 18th, and 30th. The biggest of these games should be January 18th when Chris Paul and the Los Angeles Clippers come to town. The Butler Bulldogs also host some big games as they begin the conference stretch of their first year in the Big East. Butler plays home games at Hinkle Fieldhouse on January 9th, 11th, 18th, and 25th. They will host Georgetown and Marquette this month, which figures to draw large crowds to the Butler campus.
Devour Downtown
Devour Downtown begins January 20th this month. Devour Downtown gives Indianapolis residents the opportunity to dine out at a reasonable price. Nearly all downtown Indy restaurants have special menus this month, many that will allow patrons a four-course meal for $30. It’s also a great way to try one of the more expensive steakhouses or restaurants at a reduced price. Please remember that the more popular restaurants will fill up fast so book your table in advance! You can also check out the menu offerings on the Devour Downtown website.
Winterfest 2014
Brewers Guild of Indiana Winterfest takes place on February 1st, 2014. Although technically not in January, we wouldn’t have time to write about it in our next blog post and really wanted to include this. This is an expo for microbrewers both locally and nationally. It is a neat chance to sample some of the newest beers being created here in Indiana. Tickets are relatively inexpensive and it’s usually a pretty festive crowd. The event is held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and has grown in numbers each year, so again, make sure to get your tickets early! If you don’t drink but still want to attend with friends, that is no problem! A designated driver ticket is only $10 and comes with unlimited water and soda.
We hope this helps your plans for January! Whatever you do this month, stay warm and stay safe!
All the best,
Steffey Insurance Team
